Dixie Electric Cooperative is accepting applications for a Warehouse Clerk. This position will be located in the Union Springs, AL office.
The warehouse clerk position receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment and products within the warehouse, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all job functions. Under general supervision of Materials & Work Order Accountant this position is responsible for the following:
Essential Functions
- Using established procedures, this position is responsible for shipping and receiving unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching packing slips to actual item(s) received, ensuring that appropriate documentation is completed.
- Inspects and counts materials received to ensure quality of goods and correct quantities received, signs packing slips, noting any items that are missing or damaged and routes slip to Materials and Work Order Accountant.
- Receives and reads work orders material tickets from Materials and Work Order Accountant, pulls all items needed for each job; places items in appropriate bins for pick-up and completes required documentation. If items are returned by crew to warehouse after work order completion, this position restocks unused items and completes appropriate documentation to maintain accurate inventory.
- Generates/reviews shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.
- Moves materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
- Issues water heaters and meter bases to members and/or contractors according to established Cooperative procedures and policies.
- Stores material in appropriate location according to type of item and frequency of use. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Files requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools or other stock items and distribute items to shipping or to designated route driver storage area.
- Ensures warehouse is accessible and safe for crew, salespeople and member traffic (water heater).
- Disassembles and restocks retired materials and completes appropriate documentation.
- Marks materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
- Loads transformers being sent for repair or junk. Restocks incoming rebuilt transformers, completing appropriate documentation required.
- Coordinates the disposal of junked wire, defective transformers and other material that can be sold as salvage.
- Prepares meters for test, repair, junk, or salvage, completing all appropriate documentation required.
- Notes transformer information and serial numbers and AMR numbers of new meters, assigns transformer sequential numbers.
- Completes monthly odometer readings report for all vehicles at his/her location and submits copies of the report to the Work Order Accountant and Accounting Department.
- Responsible for counting of physical inventory. Counts material, equipment and supplies as required. Counts and classifies all transformers and meters, poles, and gives information to supervisor by last day of the month. Assists Manager, Purchasing and Inventory and Materials and Work Order Accountant in six-month inventory by arranging materials for easy access, counting items and tagging materials.
- Inspects Fork Lift(s) daily, using designated check list. Keeping record of inspection in file.
- Inspects First Aid Cabinet in warehouse and warehouse vehicle monthly. Restocking as necessary.
- Coordinates the changing and shipping for test of the rubber gloves and sleeves used by crews and engineering. This is done every 60 days. Responsible for establishing time line and ensuring these changes occur in a timely manner.
- Weighs and counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
- May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed, including minor repairs to various tools (i.e. shovels, etc.).
- Prepare parcels for mailing.
- Sweeps, dusts, and runs floor machine. Organizes warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times Routinely ensures that all like items are stored together and all items are stacked with labels, to the front or can easily be read.
- Wears the proper safety equipment.
- Responsible for the operation and stocking of the vending machines. Restocking and purchasing items as necessary.
- Prepares facilities for special use as requested by authorized personnel.
- Runs errands as requested by authorized personnel.
- Delivers/retrieves equipment to/from repair shops, as needed.
- Works with other departments within the Cooperative, as assigned.
- Operates vehicle, tools, and equipment assigned in accordance with safety rules, regulations, and established procedure.
- Attends and participates in annual job and safety meetings and other training programs, as required.
