Operation Blessing: Disaster Relief – United States
Operation Blessing (OB) is searching for a Production Chef who will play a vital role in preparing culturally appropriate, high-quality meals upon arrival at disaster sites. This position is essential for ensuring the swift distribution of meals during disaster relief efforts, both domestically and internationally. The chef will work in a variety of kitchen settings, including industrial kitchens and mobile kitchen trailers, while upholding strict food safety standards and ensuring operational efficiency in highly stressful environments.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Ability to deploy within hours of activation to disaster situations worldwide
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or catering for mass populations
- At least 3 years of management experience in fast-paced, ever-changing environments
- Experience leading, training, and coaching large teams in demanding, rapidly changing environments
- Ability to work independently with minimal infrastructure and resources
- Willing to work in remote or difficult conditions with limited access to essential services such as running water or electricity
- Ability to endure long hours of physically demanding work in challenging environments and extreme weather conditions
- High level of mental fortitude and emotional awareness to effectively manage stress in disaster or conflict situations
- Expertise in food safety and public health standards
- Familiarity with CDC, USDA, and FDA guidelines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Salesforce experience a plus
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and work well under challenging circumstances
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to effectively lead and train both staff and volunteers
- Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity to build positive relationships with local communities
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of additional languages is highly desirable
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally with short notice for extended periods of time
- Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 35 pounds or more, with strong manual dexterity
- Willingness to obtain necessary vaccinations as required for international travel
- Capable of processing credit card transactions on behalf of Operation Blessing International as needed
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
- Serve Safe Manager’s certification
