Job Description

 

Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position: The Machinist Level 1 is responsible for operating multi-axis mills and lathes, or performing all aspects of Slice/Grinding and wire EDM, slicing, and clean/tumble operations with high precision. They ensure compliance with tight tolerances according to customer drawings and quality specifications, while adhering to safety and operational procedures.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Operate multi-axis mills and lathes OR perform Slice/Grinding, wire EDM, slicing, and clean/tumble operations independently.
  • Maintain extremely tight tolerances (+/- 2 microns) as per customer requirements and MCE (Measurement Control Equipment) methods.
  • Conduct 1st piece inspection and prepare necessary quality documentation.
  • Utilize inspection equipment and digital optical measuring tools for accurate measurements.
  • Use various hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and associated gauges and tooling.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, 5S, and housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and organized workspace.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Job Demands:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in machining operations, with proficiency in multi-axis mills and lathes, Slice/Grinding, wire EDM, and/or similar operations.
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances (+/- 2 microns) and interpret customer drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with inspection equipment and digital optical measuring tools preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and commitment to 5S principles.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and occasional noise.

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for detailed work and operation of machinery.
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions and comply with safety and quality regulations.
