Dixie Electric Cooperative is currently seeking a career minded Entry Level Line Worker who aspires to develop in the role to Journey Level Line Technician. The location for this opportunity will be based out of the Union Springs Office location and therefore requires the qualified candidate to live or relocate within 25 miles of the Union Springs office or within a 6-mile radius of the Beehive Substation in Auburn. Although, this exciting career opportunity requires the selected candidate(s) to be actively engaged in acquiring skills to progress to the Journey Level Line Technician position, its initial responsibilities will be predominantly working with the Right-of-Way Team. The following duties and responsibilities provide a summary of job expectations:
- Assisting Journey Level Line Technicians and other experienced Technicians with the construction and/or maintenance of electric and/or water distribution lines and/or services.
- Adhering to the Cooperative's guidelines for quality work and safe work practices, including the handling of both above and underground cable, "hot" wires, at the end of a hot stick and the climbing of utility poles under direct supervision. Candidates may be assigned to the Cooperatives Right-of-Way crew.
- Building effective relationships and active participation in a work team.
- Maintaining tools and equipment.
- Completing necessary records.
- Participating in scheduled on-call rotation.
- Maintaining a strong work ethic with a total commitment to the success of the Cooperative.
- Maintaining a positive and proactive attitude which is continuously reflected with good behaviors
- Attending training classes

Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as a valid driver's license. Certification through an apprentice line technician school is preferred. Within six months after hire, the successful candidate(s) must obtain a valid Class A - Alabama Commercial Driver's License, which must be maintained going forward. In addition, this position requires successful candidates to have the ability to climb electric poles, to lift up to 100 pounds unassisted, perform operations from a bucket at heights necessary to accomplish tasks associated with electric utility work, as well as the ability to move around on rough terrain, including green field and brownfield construction sites.
