Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

Responsible for providing technical guidance to the operating plants and other internal parties who have requested technical assistance. Also responsible for managing the interface between the operating plants and engineering subcontractors who perform the detailed design work for the execution of $20k to $20MM capital projects. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting equipment or system issues raised by the operating plants and for managing Engineering department program initiatives. Duties include identifying or producing relevant technical documents and reviewing engineering deliverables from engineering subcontractors for compliance with Codes, Standards, and sound engineering practice. Also responsible for managing the schedule and budget during the construction and commissioning phases of project implementation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Experienced professional with full understanding of job and industry practices.
  • Performs in fully-functioning capacity, equivalent to a journey level contributor.
  • Oversees one or more smaller or medium sized projects or a major subcomponent of a large project or projects of moderate risk.
  • Makes decisions regarding own work, often in ambiguous situations; makes recommendations regarding own function/discipline.
  • Solves operational problems and associated technical issues; modifies existing tools, techniques or processes.
  • Uses independent judgment within defined policies and practices. Interprets guidelines, select methods, techniques and analytical approach.
  • Little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
  • May be designated project or technical lead for an ongoing process or short-term project within own department.
  • Information sharing – gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instruction and reporting results.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Journey – level; typically requires 5+ years experience managing a portion of a large project or independently leading a small project.
  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of project management tools, processes and methods.
