If so, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide editorial and project support for Publishing activities, ensuring compliance with all deadlines, due dates, and schedules.
Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm, with a 1-hour lunch.
Qualifications needed:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required.
- One year related editorial or administrative experience required. Experience working with print and digital publications and knowledge of copyediting guidelines and publishing activities preferred.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and oral/written communication skills required.
- Some overtime and weekend work required.
Some tasks include:
- Prepare all contracts and consulting agreements as directed.
- Obtain appropriate conflict of interest (COI) disclosures from American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) authors, editors, contributors, and editorial boards. Serve as department liaison to the AAP Compliance Specialist.
- Obtain appropriate permissions for use of outside material for AAP publications.
- Create art logs and track use of AAP digital assets.
- Assist with manuscript development tasks as directed, including transferring edits, making corrections, and proofreading.

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $26.05/hr - $27.51/hr. Compensation decisions take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, business needs, and organizational policies.
