Contributions Defining Impact: 

The essential functions listed are representative of those required to successfully perform the job.

·        Subject matter expert in chillers, cooling towers, and boilers that is passionate about cross-training and developing 5 technician and 2 housekeeper direct reports

·        Manage all preventative and ongoing maintenance, as well as all facility-related issues for Penn St. and Hemphill church properties, equipment, facilities, and grounds. Ensure church and Community Crossroads facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained to support the congregation and community activities 

·        Leadership responsibilities include participating in the department’s recruiting, selection, and hiring process; evaluating and coaching performance; developing and upskilling the talent; and preparing the talent for succession management

·        Establish best practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline workflows and provide a strong foundation for sustainable growth. Document and implement SOPs related to the intricacies of all facilities, preventative maintenance duties, and maintain protocols for safety and security. Monitor compliance, update SOPs, and communicate performance metrics associated to the SOPs

  • Serve as a liaison between upper management and team members, promoting transparency and clarity in all communications

·        Oversee the functionality and safety of all assets, including physical structures, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, heating and cooling, and grounds

  • Identify potential single points of failure, ensure cross-training and document contingency plans to minimize risks

·        Lead and motivate a diverse team to achieve departmental and organizational goals, providing clear direction and guidance while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment

  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and management on project status and departmental performance. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget

·        Oversee vendor relationships and contracted services, ensuring timely job completion. Collaborate with business office and external contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance

·        Conduct daily property walks and facility inspections to proactively identify and implement solutions. Comply with safety regulations and building codes and address hazards promptly

·        Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections

·        Respond effectively and promptly to maintenance emergencies, minimizing disruption to activities

·        Follow safety protocols and use products and equipment per manufacturer's instructions and generally accepted practices

·        Ensure all required professional inspections and certifications are current and compliant

·        Document and track routine preventative maintenance for HVAC, vehicles, and other systems (both mechanical and non-mechanical)

Essential Requirements:

Education & Experience 

·        At least seven (7) years of experience utilizing generally accepted construction and repair procedures and materials used in the areas of commercial air conditioning (chillers/cooling towers), boilers, and related trades

·        Four (4) or more years of previous leadership experience within Facilities, Operations, or Property Management

·        Previous project management experience is required, including planning and effectively communicating status updates

·        Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel and Outlook

·        Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving (MVR) record

·        Experience in church life, regardless of denomination, is desirable

·        Ability to use basic math and read a measuring tape. Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, instructions, and blueprints in English

·        Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and external contractors

·        Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service

·        Fluent English communication skills are required to effectively communicate and positively interact with church staff and congregants. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred

·        Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship (currently or in the future)

·        Constant movement throughout buildings, properties, and levels, and ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, twist, squat, crawl, push/pull, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly using proper lifting techniques

·        Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps and the like using feet and legs or hands and arms

·        Digital dexterity is required to reach items with hands and arms or operate hand and power tools.

·        Visual acuity to perform activities, such as hazard identification; counting; or reading blueprints, schedules, instructions, or a tape measure

·        Must hear with aid, converse with stakeholders, and respond quickly to sounds or emergency situations in potentially noisy environments

·        Ability to operate equipment or power tools commonly used in general cleaning/maintenance and work safely around moving machinery

·        The work environment is primarily indoors with occasional outdoor activities in varying weather conditions

·        Frequent exposure to bodily fluids, illness-causing bacteria and viruses, dust, cleaning supplies, or other particles are expected. May be exposed to slippery or uneven walking surfaces

·        Must adapt to workplace stressors like noise, emergent situations, and competing priorities while maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the facilities

Benefits for You: 

Pay is determined by previous qualifications, market data, and internal equity, starting at $65,000 per year.  As a mission-based organization, we believe in supporting our employees through an amazing and comprehensive benefits package.
