Job Description
Are you a seasoned leader in fire service with a passion for community safety, strategic management, and collaborative leadership? The City of River Falls is seeking a dynamic and visionary Fire Chief to lead our dedicated volunteer Fire Department.

As Fire Chief, you will oversee all aspects of fire service operations, including incident response, fire suppression, prevention, public safety education, and fire investigations. You will manage personnel, budgets, training, and policy development while collaborating with city leaders, community members, and regional agencies to ensure the highest standards of fire safety and emergency response. Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Minimum
• Associate’s degree in a related field.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of firefighting experience of which five years are fire command as a Captain/Battalion Chief or above; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
• State of Wisconsin Firefighter II certification or equivalent, Hazardous Materials Operations certification, National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliance
• State of Wisconsin Fire Inspector certification or equivalent is required within one year of hire.
• Maintain flexible working hours which include evening or weekend meetings/events.
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration, Public Administration or other related field.
• First Responder or EMT certification
• Completion of advanced fire officer certifications.
• National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer (EFO)
• Experience as a volunteer firefighter and/or working with volunteers.
