We are looking for a seasoned public relations professional with a proven track record of managing media relations, developing compelling storytelling content, and leading strategic communication initiatives.

LMM helps empower people to overcome barriers, obtain job skills, gain employment, locate safe and stable housing, access counseling and support services, stay out of prison, and secure second chances in community. Position Summary

Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM) is seeking an engaging professional to manage the agency’s public relations agenda. The Director of Public Relations is responsible for directing external engagement and relationship management with media, vendors, and community partners, while assisting the Senior Leadership Team with strategies to share the mission and programs of LMM.

Some of the duties include:

 

  • Establish and nurture relationships with local and national media outlets
  • Serve as a spokesperson and primary point of contact for external stakeholders and media
  • Proactively seek and secure media coverage while following up on earned media opportunities/inquiries
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive media database, reporter, and media outlet priorities, etc.
  • Write and distribute media releases in collaboration with external partners and internal staff leadership
  • Develop visual storytelling assets, including photography and videography, to enhance LMM’s narrative
  • Seek and secure community and speaking/public relations engagements for LMM leadership
  • Track and manage LMM’s Speakers Bureau
  • Develop building signage and ensure proper installation at all LMM sites
  • Develop merchandise, swag, and other materials to engage external audiences
  • Oversee coordination of activities/project management related to annual agency event(s)
  • Develop and distribute crisis communications plan and talking points for various key leaders
  • Oversee the supervision and development of the Communications Manager
  • Ensure publications calendar is executed in accordance with the goals, strategies, deadlines and budget of the Communications Plan, designate responsibilities and seek assistance across the agency

 

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field, and brings at least 5 years of experience in media, communications, or public relations, preferably within a nonprofit setting. The ideal candidate is a confident spokesperson, experienced in crisis communication and community engagement, and capable of leading and developing a team to advance the mission and values of LMM.
